Andrea Evans and her husband, Tim, are the latest contenders to join the Silver Fit challenge.

The husband-wife team are new business owners, operating Scottsboro Tackle Company since December 2013. From day one, they chose the NCR Silver tablet POS system to power their Scottsboro, Ala. location on the shores of Lake Guntersville.

“We chose NCR Silver because we had a need for inventory tracking. We have so many SKUs, and we needed to have a barcoding system, which was what originally drew us to it,” Evans said. “The fact that it had a scanner to keep track of the inventory was a major differentiator.”

While the duo has taken advantage of Silver’s ability to track up to 250,000 SKUs, Evans wants to get more out of her reporting, including knowing the dollar value of inventory on hand, which items are underpriced and more data on shrink.

“I know that there’s more that NCR Silver can do. I would really just like to know what it’s all capable of that I’m not taking advantage of to make my load easier,” Evans said.

During the next 90 days, Evans will get all of her inventory needs met as Silver Concierge enhances STC’s point of sale functionality with Silver Console, and answers every question along the way.

They will also receive tutorials on features they aren’t using, like Silver’s back office to communicate with their 11,000 Facebook fans.

On building that following, Evans advises, “We do Facebook contests. We partner with a lot of companies and tag them in a lot of our stuff. Sometimes we’ll do sponsored ads.”

Social integration with both Facebook and Twitter allows merchants to crosspost email marketing campaigns, which is also of interest to Evans.

“We save customer names, phone numbers and email info because our loyalty rewards are already integrated.  I would love to reinforce promotions through email,” she said.
