NCR Silver Smooths Operations at Ruff Life
Long-time business runner and first-time business owner Chris Diederich has joined the ranks of the Silver Fit challenge.
The pet supply retailer runs family-owned and locally-operated Ruff Life Chicago. In business for just over two years, the single site business has been successful using NCR Silver point of sale to power its operations since the very beginning.
So much so, that the Ruff Life team is gearing up to expand to a larger location next month.
There they will have their first anniversary sale and expand their staff of three.
With the business flourishing, Diederich now wants the ability to dissect his inventory reporting in more meaningful ways.
“I’d love to figure out a way to truly track the system,” he says. “We have 3,000 different SKUs, 40 variations of each and every week I get in 1,000 units. I couldn’t tell you what’s in stock, or the value of inventory in the store.”
Thanks to one-on-one training from Silver Concierge and the Silver Console add on (compliments of the Silver Fit Challenge!), Diederich will be able to do just that.
In the midst of learning to plan like a pro with better inventory management tools, Diederich has advice for new and seasoned business owners.
He says, “Our philosophy is to spend money on the customers we have so they’ll never leave. Retaining customers is significantly cheaper than acquiring customers. So rewards programs mean just about everything, and people understate their value.”
That’s why Diedrich put his trust in the NCR Silver point of sale system.
“That’s ultimately why we chose NCR Silver in the first place, and probably why we would never change. Customers don’t have to track it. I don’t have to track it. It works great, and the ability to set your own rewards is fantastic.”
